SECCO ITALIAN BUBBLES

Italian White Sparkling Wine Brut

Sorelle Casa Fine Wines was started by sisters Ginevra and Olivia Casa, originally from Rome, Italy. The two sisters grew up in Italy and developed a great passion for Prosecco. In August of 2010 the Italian laws regarding the production of Prosecco changed. After decades of being able to blend other grapes with the Prosecco the Italian government decided to make of it a DOCG and now no longer is it possible to have blends. The government now requires Prosecco to be produced with 100% Glera grapes. Being big lovers of the wine they grew up with, when Ginevra and Olivia learned of this new law coming, they decided to keep the tradition of the Italian blend alive, and in early 2009 they created Secco Italian Bubbles.

According to Ginevra, "We are using the noble varietals to increase the flavor and aromatic profiles - blending the Glera and Pinot Bianco for the Secco White and blending Glera and Pinot Noir for the Secco Rose. We want to make the best sparkling wine from my home region, so of these blends, Secco - our Italian Bubbles – was born."

everyday price $11.95!

 GIRARD

Napa County Wines

Faust 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley (Quintessa) 375ml half-bottle

The 2008 vintage ARTISTRY is richly garnet in color with aromas of black cherry, ripe plum and cassis. There are also nuances of leather, toasted hazelnut and winter spices. On the palate, this firmly-textured wine offers a full-mouth feel with flavors of coffee, chocolate-covered cherries, berry tart and currants. The tannins are very well integrated, making the wine approachable at an early age. There are multiple layers to this complex blend that reveal themselves through decanting or by giving the wine time to open up in the glass. Cuvée: 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cabernet Franc, 11% Malbec, 6% Merlot and 5% Petite Verdot.

Sale price $32 ~ regularly $41!

This CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2008 release showcases the forward, ripe fruit and fine, polished tannins for which the Napa Valley is most prized. The initial aromatic notes are of ripe red fruit and spicy oak. The flavors on the lush palate follow suit, while the finish underscores the high quality of the fruit from which this wine was made. Enjoy it now, but know that this Cabernet will continue to improve with proper aging for another 8 to 12 years.

And now on to a new topic ~ PICKLES!!

A tip from a customer led us to our new favorite pickles, McCLURE'S!  Made locally in Brooklyn, the McClure Brothers make these crispy pickles with local produce and WOW are they tasty.  For the classic pickle people, try the garlic dill ~ and for those who can handle the heat, the spicy are fantastic.
